A shocking case of murder has been reported from Ludhiana on Tuesday morning. Local shoe trader Manjit Kochhar was on his way home after closing his shop. A seemingly uneventful trip he had taken often. Unfortunately, his scooty was cornered by assailants on two activas. The assailants proceeded to stab Manjit as he pleaded bystanders for help. Reports state that the assailants brandished pistols to make sure no one could help the victim and fled with the lakhs of rupees he was carrying. Reports also suggest that the attack was a planned one and not an impromptu mugging.

The whole assault was caught on CCTV cameras. As the assailants left Manjit soaked in his own blood, bystanders tried to save him and called the authorities. Sadly, Manjit was already dead when he arrived at the hospital. In their preliminary report, the Ludhiana police have stated that they are using the footage recovered to track the culprits. They also said that the assailants conducted a recce on Manjit and his routine two days prior to the attack. They were aware of the time at which he would close his shop and the route he would take on his way home. Although Manjit is said to have stopped to pick up groceries for his family, it doesn’t seem to have affected the assailant’s plans. They cornered Manjit near Sharma Sweets, which is where the grisly attack took place. The event has left many rattled in Ludhiana, a hub for businessmen in Punjab.
