Counting of votes for Ludhiana West Byelection commenced on Monday. Ludhiana West is among the most high-profile constituencies that underwent polls on June 19. The bypoll was necessitated after AAP Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi died of a “self-inflicted bullet injury” earlier this year. With the counting of votes going on, the first trend of results have started to come out on Election Commission of India's official website.

In the ongoing counting for the Ludhiana West Assembly by-election, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Sanjeev Arora has taken a decisive early lead. After the completion of three rounds of counting, Arora has secured 8,271 votes, establishing a lead of 3,060 votes over his closest rival, Jiwan Gupta of the BJP.

The voting trends so far indicate a significant swing in AAP’s favor, as their candidate continues to widen the gap.
