‘Ludhiana-Delhi direct flight to resume after 2.5 years, the operations to start from summer’:MP Sanjeev Arora

Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjeev Arora on Sunday claimed that the Centre has agreed to resume direct flight from Ludhiana to Delhi. Earlier, the flight got suspended in August 2020 post which the locals and businessmen faced a lot of problems. As there was no availability of direct flight all the people either had to take a flight from Mohali to Delhi or had to travel by road.

Reportedly, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia informed the same to MP Sanjeev Arora on Sunday. Besides this, more resumption of flights from Ludhiana to various locations is also on the cards. As per the information, AAP MP Sanjeev Arora had been demanding the resumption of domestic flights from Ludhiana for a very long time. Demanding to resume direct flight from Ludhiana to Delhi, Sanjeev Arora said that this decision will boost the trade and industry in Punjab. He further added that it will also be a great aid for locals of both cities to travel across in a very less span of time.

Union Minister of Aviation reacting to MP’s request stated, “UDAN route between Hindon and Ludhiana has been awarded to M/s Big Charters with a 19-seater aircraft under UDAN 4.2 bidding round.” She added that the operation would commence in the coming summers. Reportedly, the direct flight from Ludhiana to Delhi commenced on 1st September 2017 and on 31st August 2020, the operations were discontinued citing some reasons.
