Madhya Pradesh Accident: 15 UP laborers traveling home for Diwali died after the bus rammed into a still truck in MP's Rewa

At least 15 people died while 40 others were grievously injured after a bus carrying around 100 passengers collided with a truck on the highway in Madhya Pradesh’s town of Rewa last night.

The bus was bound for Gorakhpur which included people traveling to their hometown for Diwali when it hit a stationary truck near Suhagi Pahari in Rewa.

The rescue operation continued for the entire night when the injured were rushed to a hospital in Suhagi while others with extreme injury were taken care of at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

The truck with which the passenger bus collided was stranded on the road after it met with an accident with another truck.

Appraising the media about the development Rewa SP Navneet Bhasin informed the media that most of the people traveling in the bus were laborers from several pockets of Uttar Pradesh, who had boarded the bus from MP’s Katni.

He went on to say that they reached Katni on a separate bus from Hyderabad and were heading to their home for Diwali when they met with the mishap.

An investigation has been launched to know the exact cause of the incident, meanwhile, politicians condoles the accident by sharing their thoughts for the deceased, besides making compensatory announcements.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of people who died in the accident. The critically injured will be given ₹ 50,000 each.
