It's official now. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has wedded veteran Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pinaki Misra.
The marriage is said to have been held on May 3 in Germany. Moitra had confirmed the wedding in an X post, expressing gratitude to people for 'love and wishes'.
Who is Pinaki Misra?
Born in 1959, Pinaki Misra is a veteran politician who has been elected as an MP four times. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Odisha's Puri in 1996, when he bested the then-Union Minister Braja Kishore Tripathy. Misra was re-elected for a second time in 2009, 2014 and 2019.
A Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India, Misra has had a distinguished political as well as legal career that has lasted almost three decades.
Pinaki Misra, 65, is a BA (Hons) in History from St Stephen's College, Delhi and LLB from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He was previously married to Sangita Misra and has a daughter and a son. Moitra is his second wife.
Misra was a member of the Parliamentary Committee on External Affairs, subordinate legislation and Civil Aviation.

Misra is specialized in Corporate Law, Foreign Exchange, Customs and Excise Laws, mining-related laws, Company Laws, Environmental Laws and Constitutional Laws.
Misra played soccer, hockey and cricket while in school and college and was the captain of St Stephen`s College Football Team.
Misra has visited more than 30 nations to date. In 2013, he visited Sri Lanka as a member of the Indian Parliamentary delegation of the Lok Sabha speaker at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference. The same year, he was in Austria as a member of the Indian Parliamentary delegation.
Business Interests
The Misra group owned businesses, such as Ocean Grand Resorts and Hotels Pvt Ltd, Jupiter Estates Pvt Ltd, White Lily Estates Pvt Ltd and Janpath Properties Pvt Ltd. Misra also had interests in Brady Telesoft Pvt Ltd and WH Brady and Co Ltd., media reports revealed earlier.
About Mahua Moitra
Mahua Moitra, who is a former investment banker, is a TMC MP from West Bengal's Kirshnanagar. Prior to her tenure as an MP, Moitra was an MLA from Karimpur before getting elected to the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat in 2019 as a TMC candidate. Even though she was expelled from Parliament in 2023 on a controversy, she performed a remarkable comeback by being re-elected in 2024.
Who is also best known for her 'early signs of fascism' viral speech, Moitra has also been a central figure in the party and had earlier married Danish financier Lars Brorson. She later went out with advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai.
The TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh also extended greetings to the newlywed couple. "Congratulations Mm & Pm… Wishing you a lifetime of love and laughter," she tweeted.
