The Congress government in Himachal is hanging on by threads after a major setback in the Rajya Sabha elections held on Tuesday, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the only Rajya Sabha seat in the state. Amidst the chaos, it was rumoured that Himachal CM Sukhvinder Sukhu had offered his resignation to the Congress observers following a rebellion by at least six party MLAs.

However, he has now set the rumours to rest saying that he will not resign but instead will prove the Congress’ majority during the budget session. He also claimed that the Congress Government will complete its full 5-year term.

Here's what Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on reports about his resignation, "There are reports in some media houses that the CM has resigned. I want to clarify that I haven't resigned. I am a warrior.” He further went on to say that, “We will prove our majority during the Budget Session. I also want to make it clear that the Congress government will complete its full 5-year term. (Translated)"

Earlier today, Former Himachal CM’s son and Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh tendered his resignation following a starching defeat in cross-voting wherein BJP won the only Rajya Sabha seat. The Congress govt. future was threatened after the crushing defeat as the BJP entered the majority in the Parliament. Along with Vikramaditya’s resignation, 15 MLAs were suspended by the Himachal state Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania after they created a ruckus in his chambers.
