As soon as Maidaan's trailer was released, fans went into a frenzy after witnessing a power pack performance of Ajay Devgn and other starcast of the upcoming movie. Slated to be released in Eid 2024, Maidaan is a true story based on the golden era of Indian Football from 1950-1963 spearheaded by coach Syed Abdul Rahim who later earned the title of 'architect of modern Indian football'. Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Maidaan features Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh and more in the leading roles. The character of Syed Abdul Rahim is played by Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn. Going by Maidaan's trailer, Ajay Devgn forms a team for Indian football by identifying talents from every state of India. However, Devgn's team at first could not impress the Indian board or politicians who dont express their faith in the Indian Football Team formed by Syed Abdul Rahim played by Ajay Devgn. 

 

Now, talking about Maidaan's real life Syed Abdul Rahim, he is famous by the name 'architect of modern Indian football'. Syed Abdul Rahim was the manager of Indian Football from 1950-1963 which is considered as the golden era of Indian football history. During his tenure, Syed Abdul Rahim trained the Indian national football team towards a number of achievements.

 

It was under the training of Syed Abdul Rahim, the Indian football team qualified for the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics football. By doing so, India became the first Asian team to reach this milestone. Not only thus, but the last successful event for the Indian team under Syed Abdul Rahim was the 1962 Asian Games held in Jakarta, where India beat South Korea winning the gold medal in front of approximately 10,000 spectators. Ultimately, Syed Abdul Rahim died in 1963 after he was diagnosed with cancer.
