An Indian woman Mandeep Kaur from UP’s Bijnor died by suicide in New York. In her last video detailing the cause behind her step, the 30 years old Kaur has accused her in-laws of domestic violence. The family of the deceased is now demanding the accused be hanged for torturing Mandeep, the cause of her suicide.
Mandeep was married to Ranjot Veer Singh on February 1, 2015. At the time of their wedding, Ranjot was serving in a Ship Corporation but three years later Ranjot shifted to New York with Mandeep.
The couple was blessed with two daughters Alisha and Amreen two years apart. In the need of a boy child, Mandeep’s in-laws started torturing her after the birth of her younger daughter. Ranjot often used to beat her after drunk and kept Mandeep hours locked inside a room. A few times he even tried to kill her.
The situation turned worse in 2021 when a case was registered against Mandeep’s in-laws over rigorous torture and harassment against her, somehow the situation normalized after the negotiation of the two families.
But again the story of Mandeep’s plight resumed with the same attitude from her in-laws. Several CCTV footage has surfaced in recent days of Mandeep getting beaten by her husband.
Mandeep finally lost the battle against her patience and opted for death over life. In her last video, Mandeep narrated the story of continuous violence and harassment by her in-laws and said, “My in-laws are responsible for my death. They didn’t want me to live and have been harassing and beating me for years.”

Mandeep’s sister Kuldeep Kaur said “her in-laws are responsible for her death. They were consistently beating and abusing her just because she had two daughters. They used to say Mandeep can never give birth to a boy child.”
Kuldeep said her sister called her a day before committing suicide and complained of harassment and physical abuse from her in-laws. She was scared of her husband. A day before her death she posted a video talking about suicide.
“I didn’t believe it when I heard about her death, because I knew she was strong and will never take such a step. She was closest to me than anyone else in the family, she was brave and bold.” Added Kuldeep on her sister’s death.
Mandeep’s family appealed to the Indian government to punish the accused at the earliest to serve justice to Mandeep. Kuldeep Kaur demands the custody of her sister’s daughters.
Whereas Mandeep’s in-laws are now absconding with their home locked. Police are in search of Manjot’s family for future investigation.
