In a move towards bolstering public safety as per commitment of Punjab government, Malerkotla Police announced the operationalization of the 'Nigrani' 24x7 project integrated with the 112 emergency helpline number. This initiative aims to augment round-the-clock safety and swift emergency response across the region.

The project, inaugurated by Chief Guest DC Dr. Palvi and SSP Malerkotla Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, promises quick emergency response for public safety. The 112 service commits to dispatch assistance within 10-15 minutes in urban areas and 20-30 minutes in villages during medical, fire, or crime emergencies.

DC Dr. Palvi and SSP Khakh flagged off the key initiatives, namely the 112 Emergency Service and Nigrani 24x7 Patrolling Project. Under Nigrani 24x7, state-of-the-art Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) and PCR bikes secure high-sensitivity areas via continuous patrolling supported by the latest technology aids. Strategic deployment aims to deter and tackle potential crimes before occurrence.

Speaking at the launch, SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh emphasized, "Community safety is our top priority. With the 112 service and Nigrani patrolling, we aim to build trust that help will be just a call away for any emergency." Citizens can now trigger real-time dispatch of police assistance by dialing 112, with trained staff at the integrated control center activating the closest first response vehicle.

Each police station in Malerkotla district is now equipped with emergency response vehicles coordinating with the 112 dispatch control room for timely aid provision. PCR vehicles deployed under Nigrani 24x7 will focus on traffic management, preventing Eve-teasing, and other petty offenses while undertaking round-the-clock patrolling, especially during the night.

SSP Khakh stated, "Every 112 call will be closely monitored for authenticity, and fake calls can attract punishment. Our aim is to make available immediate assistance if any citizen faces a distress situation."

Nigrani 24x7 fortifies proactive security, and 112 ensures help is just one call away for the people of Malerkotla round-the-clock. Area-specific Emergency Response Vehicles will reach rural locales within 20-30 minutes and urban vicinity in 10-15 minutes.

Every police station in the Malerkotla district has been provided with emergency response vehicles, and PCR vehicles will control traffic snarls, Eve-teasing incidents, and other petty crimes while patrolling during the night.

SSP Khakh urged citizens to become partner in prevention by providing information on suspicious activities to police stations or dialing 112.
