Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has strongly criticized the Centre for the rising inflation, questioning the nature of this so-called "Amrit Kaal" (Golden Era) in which every segment of society is grappling with its repercussions.

Taking to Twitter in Hindi, Kharge stated, "What kind of 'Amrit kal' is this? In which inflation has impoverished the public. Recent reports indicate that 74 percent of the country's population cannot afford a nutritious diet. Over the past five years, the cost of a simple meal has surged by 65 percent, and despite a Rs 200 subsidy, one out of every four beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme did not avail more than one LPG cylinder refill last year."

Kharge didn't mince words in criticizing the government, asserting, "Engaging in rampant exploitation, followed by minor election concessions, won't suffice. Every segment of the nation is feeling the impact of the inflation implemented by the Modi government, which is why new narratives are being presented to the public daily."

He emphasized that the prevailing backbreaking inflation is the real issue, and the people of India will continue to question it. Kharge firmly stated that by defeating the inflation created by the BJP, India will emerge victorious. He substantiated his remarks by sharing a news report alongside his tweet.

These comments come in the backdrop of soaring prices of essential commodities, with the Congress consistently targeting the government on the issue of inflation.
