In a crackdown against amping obscenity inside Delhi Metro, a man who was filmed doing inappropriate act openly inside the train was declared 'wanted' by the Delhi Police on Tuesday. For the past few days, multiple videos have been doing rounds on social media showing obscene acts inside Delhi Metro. It all started when a woman dressed like Uorfi Javed became an overnight sensation. While a few people stated that the semi-naked dress worn by the girl inside Delhi was not appropriate, a few others supported the girl over right to choose. Following that, multiple videos started surfacing online which showcased obscene acts inside Delhi Metro which included couples kissing and making out publicly. However, what caught Delhi Women's Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal's eyes was the video of a man who was shamelessly doing obscene act inside Delhi Metro who tagged Delhi Police and Delhi Metro and asked them to take action.

Now, DCP Delhi Metro on Tuesday took to its Twitter handle and asked people to help identify the man who was caught on Delhi Metro viral video. The statement says, "This man was performing obscene act in Delhi metro and he is now wanted in FIR NO.02/23 PS IGIA metro. Please inform SHO IGIA metro on 8750871326 or 1511 (control room) or 112 (police helpline). The identity of the informer will be kept confidential. Help Delhi Police"

It is pertinent to mention here that after Maliwal's tweet, the police took suo motu action and a case under section 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the IPC was registered. The investigation into the matter was underway.

Cops to patrol inside Delhi Metro

After increasing cases of obscenity, it was recently announced that over a hundred Delhi Police personnel in civilian clothes will now surveil metro compartments. As per reports, the Delhi police personnel will enter and check metro compartments on a random basis. Not only this, but the Delhi Police may also travel in the metro for a few stations to keep an eye out for untoward activities. Along with DMRC and CISF officials, the police personnel will prosecute any offenders on the spot and take further legal action.
