The Man vs Wild television show star, Bear Grylls, has expressed regret for killing “way too many animals” during his career. He has now promised to eat only dead animals.

Grylls admitted that to stay alive in dense forests, he had to kill animals initially.

"I think in terms of survival and food, definitely in the early days we were killing way too many snakes and stuff like that in the name of survival. I've moved so far away from that nowadays,” he told BBC 4.

“It's always about finding carcasses, bugs and grubs. If you look at great survivors historically they were always the foragers. You go after the big game and you take too much risk and you burn too much energy." He added.

Having earned a huge fan base for his heroics in the show Man vs Wild, Grylls said he took lessons from people he carried with himself who solely stuck to vegas.

"I have taken many, many stars who are vegan and vegetarian into the wild. It has been a wonderful adventure and I am always super respectful of that." He said.

People often found it fascinating to see Grylls eating animals like snakes, etc on screen. His efforts to stay alive amid adversaries have made people admire him.

He had also faced some criticism earlier for killing live animals. But he now says he has moved far from that.
