'Mangalore Muslims' Facebook page booked for provocative posts defending Bajrang Dal's activist murder

Mangalore Muslims Facebook Page had a post claiming that Harsha was ‘killed’ for allegedly ‘abusing Prophet Mohammed in the year 2015.’

In a crackdown on anti-social elements on social media, Karnataka Police' Cyber, Economic and Narcotics Offences wing has registered an FIR against a Facebook page named 'Mangalore Muslims' for making provocative posts and defending the brutal murder of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha. 23-year-old Bajrang Dal activist Harsha was stabbed to death in Shivamogga on Sunday night. He was a resident of Seegehatti, was stabbed by unidentified men in Shivamogga's Bharati Colony area around 9.30 pm.

The murder of Bajrang Dal activist came at a time when Karnataka is already going through the Hijab row. After the murder of Harsha, section 144 was imposed in communally tensed areas. Now, the 'Mangalore Muslims' Facebook Page came under the scanner of Karanataka police. As per reports, Mangalore Muslims Facebook Page had a post claiming that Harsha was ‘killed’ for allegedly ‘abusing Prophet Mohammed in the year 2015.’ After members of the police commissioner’s social media cell saw the post, the Cyber, Economic and Narcotics Offences Police in Mangaluru filed an FIR against the admins of the page. 


Furthermore, the Magmalore Muslims Facebook Page also mentioned Harsha as a 'street dog' and added that 'whoever insults the Prophet will meet the same fate.' As per the Times of India report, the police have named an individual Mohammed Shafiq, believed to be the admin of the page, in the FIR. It is pertinent to mention here that on Monday, violence broke out during Harsha’s funeral procession that left a photojournalist and a woman cop among three injured.  Till now, 6 people have been arrested by the Karnataka Police in the murder of the Bajrang Dal activist.

Bajrang Dal Activist Harsha was finding links between SDPI and PFI

As per IANS, Preliminary investigations reveal that Harsha, had hinted that he was killed for pursuing the Hindutva agenda. Police sources confirmed that the investigators were gathering material to find possible links to the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Popular Front of India (PFI). The government has given clear instructions to gather material against these organisations, to make a recommendation to the Government of India to impose a ban. The agencies are also probing the role of Campus Front of India (CFI), for conspiring to rake up the hijab issue by training the college students. 

Who was Harsha, Bajrang Dal Activist?

Harsha, 28, was in the forefront of organizing functions related to the Hindu religion, in matters related to cow slaughter, illegal transportation of cows. Harsha has been very active on social media and carried out pro-Hindutva messages which antagonised a lot of people
