The event in Manipur when ladies were paraded around horrified the entire nation. In response to the occurrence, several famous people have expressed their sorrow and rage. It is wrong to use women as pawns in this violent game, no matter the circumstances, according to Priyanka Chopra. The event has drawn the ire of Kareena Kapoor as well. Actress Celina Jaitley said that after watching the Manipur video, she has been unable to eat or sleep. Celina claimed that her fury was making her body tremble.

Celina wrote on Twitter- “Ever since I saw the Manipur video, I am neither able to sleep nor eat anything. My body is shaking with anger and pain. Whatever the reason, violence is violence. Violence against women is a crime.” She added, “Safety of women and children should be the biggest priority of any authority. It is breaking me from inside to see such a heinous crime against women. I am sure that the government will take such action against these criminals that no one can dream of doing so.”

Sharing a story on Instagram, Priyanka Chopra wrote, “It took a video going viral...77 days after the heinous crimes were committed...before action was taken.

Rationale? Reasons? None matter irrespective of what and why, situational or circumstantial, we can not allow women to be pawns in any game. The collective shame and anger needs to be channeled now in a unified voice for just one thing - swift justice. #togetherinshame #justiceforthewomenofmanipur”

Kareena Kapoor also posted on Instagram story, "Deeply disturbed with the situation in #Manipur. All words of condoning the crimes mean nothing until action is taken. Swiftly. 💔"

Kiara Advani criticized the brutality depicted in the video as well. She tweeted, "The video of violence against women in Manipur is horrifying and has shaken me to the core. I pray the women get justice at the earliest. Those responsible must face the most SEVERE punishment they deserve."

The incident happened on May 4 in the vicinity of Bi Phenom village in the Kangpokpi district, a day after the clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur. Three Kuki women were then paraded on the street after being stripped by the mob. A woman was raped during this time in broad daylight. Women being paraded was captured on video as well. This video became a social media sensation on July 19, 2023.
