A massive fire broke out on the fifth floor of the state's largest GST office located in Jalandhar, Punjab, at around 11 am on Wednesday. At present, the cause of the fire remains unknown. The fierce blaze was brought under control after nearly 2 hours of effort from the fire department.
The fire at the GST Bhawan in Jalandhar has left a large amount of important records of Punjab reduced to ashes. An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
Harvinder Singh, an employee posted at GST Bhawan, recalls the seeming mundane morning that took a dramatic turn. While working, he suddenly got a whiff of a strong smell of burning. The employees were immediately sidelined and investigation was carried out. During investigation, they found out that there was a fire prompting the entire fifth floor to be evacuated.
Harvinder Singh said that there was no loss of life of any kind in the incident. The fire was brought under control with the help of about 10 fire brigade vehicles. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. Fortunately, no loss of life or any injuries were reported.
