Bhopal:  On Monday, Mayawati had stated that she would have to “reconsider” her support to the Congress for government formation in the two states if the cases filed against “innocents” during the Bharat Bandh (all-India strike) violence in April were not “withdrawn”.

The strike was called by Scheduled Castes in protest against the Supreme Court ruling which they believed had diluted the provisions of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Announcing her “warning” to the Congress in a press conference, Mayawati had said, "The warning to the Congress is necessary, as now merely making announcements is not enough. People are of the view that in making promises on papers, the Congress and the BJP are two sides of the same coin. Now, it depends on the Congress whether it is able to change this perception".

Meanwhile, reacting on her statement, MP Minister PC Sharma said, “We have sent a notesheet to the CM from our department. Chief Minister Kamal Nath has time and again made clear that the BJP has filed political cases against all the other parties. There are lesser cases related to BSP as compared to Congress and other parties, everything will be looked into.”
