Medication which cured US President Donald Trump will be given free to Americans to combat Covid-19

Currently, the pharma company has doses for nearly 50,000 patients

United-States President-Donald-Trump Covid-Treatment

US President Donald Trump, last week contracted the coronavirus infection. His health was worse than earlier reported by the officials so was shifted to the US's premier Walter Reed Military Medical Centre for treatment. Earlier there were reports that President is being given 'Remdesivir' therapy to overcome the disease.

But, on Wednesday, Donald Trump posted a video on Twitter where he claimed that there is an incredible medicine which has cured him of Covid. So now, he was treated with an experimental therapy developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Not only this but in the video Trump assured the Americans that this medicine will be distributed free to the Americans in their fight against Covid. Soon after the video was dropped, Americans who were infected with the contagious infection have asked to join clinical trials of the antibody-based Regeneron.

However, it has been said by the drugs company that it has asked federal regulators to authorize its antibody treatment for Covid-19 for emergency use.

REGN-COV2, a combination of two monoclonal antibodies, was designed specifically to block the infectivity of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, according to a Mint report.

“To develop REGN-COV2, Regeneron scientists evaluated thousands of fully-human antibodies produced by the company’s VelocImmune mice, which have been genetically modified to have a human immune system, as well as antibodies identified from humans who have recovered from Covid-19,” a statement issued by the pharma company said.

Last Friday, Trump was administered the antibody cocktail-- immunizer mixed drink--under a compassionate use program.

According to the reports, Regeneron, last month had reported that its preliminary results from a trial showed that the cocktail could be effective in reducing the virus from the patient's body who have not been hospitalized.

Currently, the pharma company has doses for nearly 50,000 patients which would be given free to the natives of America. It also promises to deliver doses for  300,000 patients within the next few months.

Notably, the company's statement says that it has made an agreement with the US government and the govt would be responsible to distribute the drug to Americans free of cost if an emergency authorization is granted by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Taking note of Mr. President's health, his physician said Trump's blood samples from Monday show that he had developed protective antibodies, but according to the pharmaceutical company, those were likely the Regeneron antibodies given to him at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and not a natural response.

Meanwhile, US infectious disease chief Dr. Anthony Fauci has pointed out that we do not know if the president is well because patients’ conditions might deteriorate more than a week after showing the first symptoms.

However, White House physician Dr. Sean Conley said that the President should be able to return to public engagements as early as Saturday as Presidential Elections are approaching. Also, he is expected to hold a rally in Florida on Saturday.
