The man is Shahnawaz Shiekh, who lives in Malad, Mumbai who has become a messiah for the people. He is now popularly known as 'Oxygen man' in Maharastra. When someone calls Shiekh for the need for oxygen, he delivers an oxygen cylinder in no time. He has made a 'war room' for the convenience of the people.

Shahnawaz Shiekh has sold his car, Ford Endeavor of worth 22 lakh to buy around 160 oxygen cylinders. Shahnawaz said that last he ran out of money while helping people, this year, after witnessing the crucial condition due to lack of oxygen cylinders, he decided to sell his SUV to deliver oxygen cylinders to the people in need of them.

Telling about the inspiration, Shahnawaz claimed, "Last year my friend's wife died in an auto-rickshaw due to lack of medical oxygen. After this incident, I decided to supply oxygen cylinders for patients in Mumbai." To provide help on the time, he issued a helpline number, and also established a war room.

Shahnawaz said that "The condition is not as same as it was before. In January, where there were 50 calls per day, now we receive 500 to 600 calls every single day. But the truth is we are able to help only 10 percent to 20 percent of the people."

Shahnawaz said that they are left with 400 cylinders out of which 40 are at rent. The person who calls us for help asks them to come and take the cylinder and the cylinder is delivered to the house of those who are unable to do so.

The members of Shahnawaz's team inform people how to use the cylinder. After the usage, the empty cylinders are delivered to the war room. As per Shahnawaz, they have helped about 4000 patients by supplying oxygen cylinders.
