Meghan Markle's former TV series ‘Suits’ in which she played lawyer Rachel Zane from the first episode in 2011, has been axed. The 37-year-old who is expecting her first child with husband Prince Harry, made her last appearance in 2018, during season 7.

It was revealed on Wednesday that the show will come to an end after the ninth 10 episodes long instalment, after losing a significant amount of viewers.

Meghan and her co-star Patrick J. Adams, (Mike Ross) both left the show at the end of season seven.

The final episode of that season saw Rachel and Mike finally tie the knot, before leaving for Seattle.

The official line on why the show is being axed is unclear, but the series has lost viewers since Meghan quit the show.

According to the sources, the return of season 8, which excluded Meghan and Patrick is averaged with 1.2 million viewers which is 100,000 less than its seventh season.

Ratings have been consistently dipping since the start, even with Meghan in the show. Season one began with an average of 4.6 million viewers in 2011.
