In a shocking development, a group of men dressed in Nihang attire stormed Duggal Chaap eatery at Milap Chowk under Police Station Division No. 3, and attacked the shop owners. As per the information received, the attack was triggered by a delay in order delivery. The assailants injured all three brothers who run the shop, prompting swift police action.
DCP Naresh Dogra confirmed that one individual has already been arrested in connection with the assault. Based on the victim’s statements, a named FIR has been registered against four individuals, along with 10–15 unidentified persons. Dogra emphasized that strict action will be taken against all those involved.
Police teams have been formed to nab the remaining accused. Initial investigations suggest the attackers may be affiliated with a local dera (religious sect base). Authorities have assured that no one will be allowed to disrupt the city’s peace and order.
Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli, along with local leader Sherry Chadda, visited the shop and condemned the attack.
Kohli stated that FIRs have been registered and that such violence will not be tolerated in the city. “No one will be allowed to disturb the harmony of Jalandhar,” he added.
Interacting with the media, Nitin Kohli said, “This is extremely wrong. A single shop was attacked by so many people , it’s completely unacceptable." Jalandhr Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli lauded the prompt action by the police, stating, “The police immediately took action and registered an FIR. Whoever is responsible will definitely face strict action soon.”
Kohli highlighted that miscreants can be found everywhere, but Jalandhar has always upheld the spirit of unity. “Anti-social elements are present in every place — some more, some less — but Jalandhar is a city known for brotherhood. Those who indulge in hooliganism cannot represent that spirit,” he added.
Addressing the incident timeline, he said, “The attack happened late at night. DSP sahib himself reached the spot promptly. The police will summon the accused and question them on what provoked such an act.”
To strengthen law and order, Kohli also proposed enhanced night patrolling. “We will try to ensure that, especially in Jalandhar Central, the PCR (Police Control Room) teams are deployed across all areas during the night hours to prevent such incidents."
