The scene where Kulbhushan Kharbanda's character Satyanand Tripathi is seen reading a book and a voice-over played in the background has provoked controversy. The writer alleges that the voice-over has nothing to do with his book.

Acknowledging that the depiction of 'Dhabba' in Mirzapur 2 and an 'unrelated' voiceover has caused discomfort to Surender Mohan Pathak, Puneet Krishna, creator and writer of 'Mirzapur 2',  has apologised and promised to make changes the particular scene in the web series.

The statement read: “Dear Surender Mohan Pathak, It has been brought to my notice by you that there is a scene in the recently released series - Mirzapur Season 2 - which depicts a character named Satyanand Tripathi, reading a book named 'Dhabba' which has been written by you and this depiction is supplemented with an unrelated voiceover (VO) which has hurt your sentiments and the sentiments of your fans and well-wishers."

Creators have assured to 'rectify the situation' by either blurring the book-cover or removing the voice over within three weeks from the scene.
