Indian Army Chief MM Naravane responds on Nepal police open firing at Indians. Watch

As per DG SSB Kumar Rajesh Chandra, the incident happened at around 8:40 am 75 metres inside the Nepalese territory when a family tried to enter Nepal to meet their daughter-in-law.

In an interaction with the media after attending the Indian Military Academy passing out parade, Indian Army Chief MM Naravane said that India has a very strong relationship with Nepal. This statement comes after one Indian died in firing by Nepal security forces yesterday.

“We have a very strong relationship with Nepal. We have geographical, cultural, historical, religious linkages. We have very strong people to people connect. Our relation with them has always been strong and will remain strong in the future,” Naravane said.

"An incident took place around 8:40 a.m when a family belongs to a village at the border was going to Nepal as daughter-in-law was there. On the Nepal side, security personnel stopped them and asked them to go back which triggered a verbal altercation. The family called other persons as well. Nepal security personnel have fired around 15 rounds out of which 10 were in the air,"

One person was killed and two others injured in the firing: 

As per  DG SSB Kumar Rajesh Chandra, the incident happened at around 8:40 am 75 metres inside the Nepalese territory when a family tried to enter Nepal to meet their daughter-in-law, however, the security personnel manning the border outpost told them to leave after which the villagers entered into an argument with them and called others from their village as well.

The incident took place 75 metres inside the Nepalese territory, after the no man's land between the two countries when some women and Yadav were seen talking to the latter's daughter-in-law.

Nepal security personnel then fired indiscriminate firing leading to the death of one man identified as Vikesh Kumar, 25, while two others sustained injuries. One person has been detained by Nepal security personnel and talks are onto get his released.  Nepal forces claimed that they first fired in the air to disperse the crowd as they feared that crowd would seize their weapon.

India’s nearest border post is about 1.5 km from the incident site.
