The son of Bhabua ward councilor allegedly shot a man, who succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in the city in Bihar's Kaimur district. After this the accused, ward councilor's son, was brutally thrashed by a mob of locals in broad daylight in front of the police. The incident took place in Shivaji Chowk area of Bhabua.
A video of the incident showed the mob chanting Jai Shri Ram as a few men mercilessly beat up the accused. The video, which cannot be shown because of its sensitive nature, was purportedly filmed by a bystander.
The man was admitted to Kaimur Sadar Hospital in a critical condition. Kaimur SP said the deceased was shot over an internal matter with the accused.
On hearing that the victim died at the hospital, outraged people started demanding the police to kill the accused, who is undergoing treatment there. Following which, the matter escalated and angry locals broke the gate of the emergency.
The outraged locals also pelted stones at the window of the hospital room where the accused is being treated. Police had to resort to lathi-charge in which two people received injuries.
The agitated crowd then vandalised a shop outside the hospital and continued to pelt stones at the hospital gate. Due to which the police could not get out of the hospital and the people continued to create ruckus. They also beat up some passersby and nearby shopkeepers.
As the situation deteriorated, Kaimur SP appealed to the people not to take law in their hands. However, the crowd did not budge and continued with the rampage.
