Mob sets Fire to Religious Building in Gurugram as unrest from Mewat's Nuh spreads

The blaze of violence that started in Mewat's Nuh has spread to Gurugram. Late on the evening of July 31, a mob of roughly 100 people set a religious building that was still under construction in Sector 56-57 of Gurugram on fire.

One person who was in the religious location at the time of the violence was killed, and one other person was hurt. Mohammad Saad, a native of Bihar, had been identified as the decesed person according to the police's first information report. According to the FIR, a group of 100 to 120 individuals arrived from Boom Plaza in Gurugram Sector-57 at 12.15 am while yelling religious chants. The police team present at the scene was first stoned by the mob. The adjoining religious building was then set on fire after that. The crowd members entered the religious building and began firing. During this time, Saad, who was inside, died, and a man named Khurshid Alam was shot in the leg.

Haryana Police ASI Sandeep, who was on the scene, has filed a FIR in the case. The assailants in this case have been identified. Security around religious sites in the area has been beefed up in the aftermath of the incident.

Following the tragedy, a man named Izhar has come to the fore, claiming that he, too, was inside the religious building at the time of the attack. He claimed that five persons were there when the mob assaulted. He also said that the mob opened fire on him and beat him with sticks. The mob apprehended Saad and Khurshid, while the other three guys escaped by hiding. Izhar stated that he works as a caretaker in this religious establishment.

According to Izhar, four to five police officers were stationed outside the sacred site at the time of the incident. Following the event, several senior officers from the Gurugram Police Department arrived on the scene and began an inquiry. By daybreak, the fire department's half-dozen vehicles had gotten the fire under control. Police have also discovered gunshot shells from the scene.

According to Mohammad Aslam Khan, head of the Mosque Management Committee in Sector-57, Gurgaon, the victim slain in the assault was Saad Imam. However, this allegation of his has yet to be confirmed. According to the information, Saad spoke with his brother Shadab at 11 p.m. On the evening of August 1, he was about to board a train back to his home in Bihar.
