Amidst the ongoing pandemic, Modi governmnet completed its one year of second innings. Bharaitya Janata Party and its alliance are seeing this as a matter pride, however, the second inning of Modi government as full of ups and downs.
After winning the lok sabha elections by historic 303 seats, Narendra Modi became the first non-congress politician to become Prime Minister consecutive times.

Failed Governance: Continuous 3 months protest against the CAA and NRC

1- Governance is always the first priority of the Modi government. But in the first year of Modi-2.0 government, there was a three-month long agitation in the country against the CAA and NRC. Demonstrations took place from Assam to Delhi and Kashmir to Kerala.

2- In the evening of December 15, after the violence, the public sat on the road in Shaheen Bagh. Police put barricades on Kalindi Kunj Road so that traffic did not get stuck in the middle. This is where the movement of Shaheen Bagh started.

3- The discussion of this dharna was held all over the world. Finally, on 24 March, amid the terror of Corona, the police evacuated Shaheen Bagh's dharna. Violent demonstrations were also held at JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, AMU.

4- From the United Nations to the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), there was a voice over CAA. From London to New York, from Berlin to Bern, people took to the streets carrying banners and posters of NO CAA, NO NRC, NO NPR. 

5- On February 23, a communal riot erupted in Delhi amid CAA protests. More than 50 people died in these riots. The riot erupted in East Delhi for three days. US President Donald Trump was visiting India when the riots broke out.

Lost State Elections: Elections were held in four states, BJP could not form government in three

1- After the general elections in 2019-20, assembly elections were held in four states, BJP lost in three of these states.

2- BJP lost in assembly elections held in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Delhi. Only in Haryana, the BJP could form the government. Overall seats of BJP was greater in Mharashtra however, Shiv Sena backed off from alliance

3- In 2014-15, BJP won three of these four states. The BJP was successful in forming the government in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Haryana.

Big Decisions In Modi 2.0: Article 370 removed, Triple Talaq made illegal

July 30 - Triple Talaq i.e. Muslim Women (Protection of Rights) law made. Under this, Triple Talaq were made illegal.

July 31 - Motor Vehicle Amendment Act enacted. Under this, 63 new rules of traffic were made. Penalties were increased manifold on violators of these rules. However, many states refused to implement the law.

August 2 - Unlawful Activities Prevention (Amendment) Act enacted. Under this, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) got more powers than before. Legal rights of the states were limited.


August 5 - Under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act-2019, Article 370 and 35A of the constitution giving special status to the state and giving special privileges to the citizens of the state were abrogated. With this, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were made two union territories.

The government put many big leaders of the state under house arrest. Internet was also closed in the valley for several months.

May 16 - COVID relief package: PM Modi announced a package of Rs 20 lakh crore. This is 10% of India's GDP. It was one of the world's top-5 relief packages till that time.
