Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposal to initiate a global diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor has found huge support from the people, while the majority are still critical of the opposition's move to politicize the foreign tours under the leadership of the parliamentarians, as per an opinion poll made public on Monday.

These are some of the findings of a countrywide opinion survey carried out by IANS-Matrize News Communications that gathered opinions of 7,463 people across the country, comprising 4,702 men and 2,761 women.

The surreptitious strike, code-named Operation Sindoor, not only found approval across the board but also became a major boost for PM Modi's image both domestically and internationally, as per the survey results.

The Prime Minister's popularity rating appears to have surged after the retaliatory campaign against terror havens in Pakistan, as 74 percent of the poll respondents concur that his popularity has increased manifold.

Up to 11 percent of the respondents say there is no effect on the Prime Minister's popularity, whereas 10 percent of the respondents say that he has turned unpopular after the operation.

Most of the respondents also thwarted efforts by the Opposition to fix a negative frame of reference around Operation Sindoor and the Center's decision later to reach an understanding on a ceasefire, based on the nationwide survey between May 9 and 15 conducted across Assembly segments.

Up to 57 percent of respondents believe that the Opposition's queries on Operation Sindoor are unwarranted. Up to 27 percent of respondents indicate that the Opposition has every right to analyze the Modi government's military strike and the developments that followed.

Besides, the Opposition's call for a special Parliament session after Operation Sindoor was turned down by a majority of respondents in the opinion survey.

Up to 45 percent of respondents view such a demand as unacceptable, and 33 percent are in favor of it.

Although 14 percent of respondents are neutral, roughly 8 percent think the demand is partially justified.

The poll also indicates huge public approval for the Modi government's armed reaction to the Pakistani-sponsored terrorist strike at Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, killing 26 individuals.

Up to 73 percent of the respondents concur that Operation Sindoor has improved India's image at the international level.

Approximately 16 percent of respondents concur with this in some way, whereas 19 percent affirm that there is no effect of the military operation on the international image of the country.
