Dinesh Gundu Rao of Congress in a tweet said, "Independent India is witnessing what the British Rule must’ve been like during the Freedom Struggle. @narendramodi is the modern day Viceroy Chelmsford and @AmitShah is General Dyer."

Rao shared an article of NDTV, "No permission for farmer Mahapanchayat in UP's Shamli," in the tweet.

There is a growing anger on Twitter after Rihanna and Greta Thunberg also tweeted in solidarity with farmers protesting around the borders of Delhi.

Meanwhile, the Supreme court has put the implementation of laws on hold while the union government has also offered to put the laws in abeyance for 18 months. The farmers had rejected this offer because they wanted repeal of laws.

Now the police have resorted to cementing metal spikes on the grounds, barbed wires on the walls and barricading to stop the entry of new farmers and it has also been learnt that some members of the Press were not allowed to enter the protest site.
