The infamous Morinda sacrilege incident took a shocking turn after the prime accused Jasvir Singh Jassi died on Monday after he reportedly complained about chest pain and breathlessness. Jasvir Singh Jassi was arrested by the Punjab Police after he attacked Granthis (Priests) and tried to throw away the holy book of Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Gurdwara Sri Kotwali Sahib in Morinda, Ropar. In fact, the Morinda sacrilege incident sparked a massive row and anger among the Sikh community after the CCTV footage had gone viral. However, True Scoop News did not share the video so that the religious sentiments don't get hurt. Notably, tensions were prevailing in Morinda with the Sikh Sangat were demanding strict actions against Jasvir. In fact, Jasvir was attacked in Rupnagar court by a lawyer who was also carrying a revolver. However, the lawyer was nabbed before the could do anything to Jasvir and was arrested after that. Thereafter, Jasvir Singh was shifted to Mansa jail on April 29 from Rupnagar. Still, tensions were flaring in Morinda. In fact, Minorities Commission Chairman Sardar Iqbal Singh Lalpura condemned the incident and asked the Police and the government to take strict actions, especially in incidents related to sacrilege.

Now, coming back to Jasvir's death, it has been reported that the accused complained of chest pain and breathlessness before he was shifted to a government hospital- Mansa Civil Hospital to be exact. The police further informed that the cause of death will be clear after the post-mortem release of the report. A newswire quoted a doctor at the Mansa civil hospital who said Jasvir Singh was brought from the jail to the hospital at around 4 pm as he was experiencing difficulty in breathing. At around 8:30 pm, his condition deteriorated as his blood pressure and oxygen saturation level dropped considerably. Jasvir Singh died at around 9:10 pm despite the best efforts of the doctors to save him.

Notably, Punjab has witnessed multiple sacrilege incidents. In February this year, a man was caught desecrating Sri Gutka Sahib in Jalandhar. The incident took place near Professor Colony of the city. After getting the information, police registered a case against the accused and an investigation is underway. Reportedly, a person identified as Bablu was caught tearing up pages of the holy book and throwing them on the road in Professor Colony. While he was doing this, a man named Joga Singh stopped him from doing the same and called the people nearby for help. Post this, the accused tried to run away but was caught by the crowd and handed over to the police. Joga Singh alleged that the accused was drunk.
