Hamirpur: A couple allegedly killed their two-year-old son by strangulating him and later committed suicide in the Rath area of this district in Uttar Pradesh, Superintendent of Police Hemraj Meena said on Monday.
The SP said here that Brajendra (31) and his wife Geeta (25) were living in private accommodation with their minor son in the Rath town area and the door of their house was closed for two days.

After stench started emanating from their house, the neighbors informed the police on Monday.
Mr. Meena said that reportedly, the couple committed suicide after strangulating their son. A suicide note written by Geeta was recovered from the spot.
Brajendra's father is working as a 'Lekhpal' in the Chitrakoot district while his mother was at her parent's home for two months.
The SP said that the motive behind the extreme step has not yet been ascertained.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and further investigation will be done after the report arrives.
