
Memberof Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary on Tuesday visited the city railwaystation and took stock of the progress of works being done under the smart cityproject. He was accompanied by Jalandhar Central MLA Rajinder Beri, JalandharNorth MLA Bawa Henry, Mayor Jagdish Raja and Municipal Corporation CommissionerKarnesh Sharma.
Duringthe inspection, he met with concerned officials and undertook an appraisal ofthe project execution.
Speakingwith the media on this occasion, MP Chaudhary said that the city railwaystation is undergoing a revamp with infrastructure upgradation and addition ofmodern passenger amenities. The works being undertaken, he informed, includefacelifting and beautification, development of a parking space, installation ofescalators and construction of a foot over bridge.
“Theseworks would be completed at a cost of Rs 6 crore and 26 lakhs. The railwayshave set a deadline of 6 May 2021 for their completion,” he added.
ChaudharySantokh Singh further stated that the makeover project would fulfil a longpending demand of people of the area and it would provide passengers with asmooth and pleasant experience while arriving and departing. It would alsosolve the problem of traffic congestion around the railway station area, hesaid.
