The Education Minister Pargat Singh in a yet another major initiative personally met the unemployed youth staging dharna near his Jalandhar residence. The Minister in an emotional vein said,"You too are like my sons and daughters. With you sitting on dharna on the occasion of festival how can I celebrate Diwali".

Distributing sweets to the youth, Pargat Singh exhorted them to hold talks saying the issue can only be resolved by sitting across the table and talking rather than on the roads. "I want to solve your problem by adopting a positive approach and lending a sympathetic ear to every aspect flagged by you", added the Minister.

Lamenting the fact that education never occupied a priority slot, the Minister said that things have come to such a sorry pass at present due to the wrong policies of the past. Citing the example of developed countries such as China and Japan, Pargat Singh strongly advocated proper and effective utilization of the human resources.

He categorically said he would do whatever is within his reach to ensure the welfare of teachers as well as the jobless youth as he himself expressed inclination for the Education portfolio. He also mentioned that the youth have always remained very close to his heart.
