Bhupinder Singh, aka Timmy Chawla, was killed on Wednesday for failing to pay extortion money. The incident also resulted in injuries to Bhupinder Singh's gunman. Later, he also passed away.

After the death of the gunman, CM Bhagwant Mann tweeted, “Salute to martyr Constable Mandeep Singh who has made the supreme sacrifice in line of duty. Punjab government will make extra-gratia payment of Rs 1 crores. Another Rs 1 crore insurance payment will be made by HDFC Bank”

Mandeep Singh has been recognized as the injured gunman. Police said that Bhupinder Singh was shot at by four assailants who arrived on two-wheelers.

Bhupinder Singh, a deceased cloth merchant, has been receiving calls from gangsters asking him for Rs 30 lakh in protection money for the previous two months.

The victim reported the calls to the police and the civil administration, and he even provided the phone numbers from which they came. He had been given a gunman to keep him safe.

The Nakodar City police station's SHO, Labh Singh, stated: "We're looking for the suspects. They committed the deed and then promptly fled.”

Harminder Singh, the deceased's father, informed the reporters that the incident occurred in front of him as he was closing the shop while his son was in the car with the gunman. According to Swarandeep Singh, the senior superintendent of police in Jalandhar, Bhupinder Singh has two security guards to keep him safe.

Residents of the area rushed Bhupinder Singh and Mandeep Singh to a hospital, where they were treated before being sent to the civil hospital, where Bhupinder Singh was later pronounced dead.
