Nakodar cloth merchant shot dead outside shop while being under Punjab Police protection

Harminder Singh, the deceased's father, informed the reporters that the incident occurred in front of him as he was closing the shop while his son was in the car with the gunman.

In Nakodar's main bazaar, a 39-year-old man was shot and killed outside of his shop on Wednesday night in front of his father and the gunman.

This was the third murder of a person under police protection in the previous month. The deceased has been named as Bhupinder Singh (39) who managed a garment shop in the town's Royal Tower. Mandeep Singh has been recognized as the injured gunman. Police said that Bhupinder Singh was shot at by four assailants who arrived on two-wheelers.

Residents of the area rushed Bhupinder Singh and Mandeep Singh to a hospital, where they were treated before being sent to the civil hospital, where Bhupinder Singh was later pronounced dead.

Bhupinder Singh, a deceased cloth merchant, has been receiving calls from gangsters asking him for Rs 30 lakh in protection money for the previous two months.

The victim reported the calls to the police and the civil administration, and he even provided the phone numbers from which they came. He had been given a gunman to keep him safe.

The Nakodar City police station's SHO, Labh Singh, stated: "We're looking for the suspects. They committed the deed and then promptly fled.”

According to Swarandeep Singh, the senior superintendent of police in Jalandhar, Bhupinder Singh has two security guards to keep him safe.
