Despite the Punjab government orders to not hold any mass gatherings in the form of marriages or religious congregations, Nangal, an area of Rupnagar district has witnessed a grand event on Sunday where people were seen flouting COVID-19 prevention directions.

The video of the event went viral on the internet, where people were seen unafraid of coronavirus despite a rapid increase in the number of cases regularly. To confirm the event, True Soop contacted IAS Rahul Tiwari, Divisional Commissioner, Rupnagar who directed ADC (General), Ms. Deepshikha Sharma, to intervene in the matter. 

In the latest development, the fact has come to light that the organizers of the congregation had already issued guidelines for the masses to not to gather in a large number at once and had made arrangements to abide by the government orders, but a sudden crowd had landed organizers in a soup. It has been learned from True Scoop's reporter Mr. Dikshit Kumar, organizers closed the main gates of the temple to deny entry to the devotees but, they somehow entered the main hall. 

When an eminent social worker, Ms. Divya Kavar, daughter of Punjab Assembly's speaker Mr. Kavar Pal was asked about the worrisome situation she said, "I have prayed for the prosperity of the natives of this region but, I am highly disappointed with the public's easy notion on coronavirus epidemic. I reprimand the organizers' negligence towards the safety of the public amid the rapid spread of contagious disease."

As per ADC (General) Ms. Deepshikha Sharma,  DSP, and SDM have been asked to probe into the situation, so that event organizers can be traced and interrogated. Taking note of the matter, the police has booked a case against the flouter of norms under Section 188 IPC. This has been confirmed by the station in-charge of Nangal, Pawan Chaudhary.
