National Herald Case: What is this case? Know why ED summon Rahul, Sonia Gandhi on June 2 & 8?

ED summons Sonia and Rahul: Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Official sources said that both these leaders have been summoned in the National Herald case.

According to the information, the Enforcement Directorate has asked these two leaders to join the investigation of the National Herald case. ED summoned Sonia and Rahul on June 8. In this case, the ED had also included two big Congress leaders Pawan Bansal and Mallikarju Kharge in April. 

In the year 2014, Subramanian Swamy filed a case against Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Subramanian Swamy had accused the Gandhi family of misappropriation of 55 crores in the National Herald case.

Government taking retaliation-Surjewala

On the other hand, after the ED's notice was issued, Congress attacked the BJP fiercely. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that this government is a dictator and is taking vengeance. He said that this government has become blind in the spirit of revenge.

Dreadful conspiracy to suppress voice - Surjewala

He said, 'To uproot the British rule, the Indian National Congress brought out the National Herald newspaper in the year 1937. The British felt so threatened by this newspaper that they banned the National Herald in 1942 during the Quit India Movement. Today again a hideous conspiracy is being hatched to suppress this voice of the freedom movement, whose head is Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself and his weapon is ED.


National Herald's allegation concocted-Abhishek Manu Singhvi 

Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the National Herald's allegation is fabricated, fictional and funny. Every political opponent is attacked by the ruling party with a sense of vengeance.
