The family of Navreet Singh who died during the tractor parade on January 26 insists that he didn't die because his tractor overturned but they claim he was shot dead by the police. The article on the claims of Navreet's family is written by The Wire and Navreet's grandfather also alleges that a bullet hit his grandson in videos on YouTube.
Many farmers and social media posts abound allege that Navreet was shot dead. Moreover, not only farmers and many people but one India Today's journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, Congress politician Shashi Tharoor had also blamed headshot for Navreet's death. Although, everything is still obscure.
In a video released by Delhi police, Navreet's tractor overturned but farmers claim that the reason of his death is a head shot and later on the tractor overturned after he was shot.
Medical officer of the District Hospital, Rampur prepared an autopsy report which states the “cause of death is shock and haemorrhage as a result of ante-mortem head injury”.
Hardeep Singh Dibdiba while speaking to The Wire said, "We were told by the doctor that they have clearly seen the bullet injury, and then we cremated his body peacefully. But we were cheated, as the [post mortem] report that came out did not say that. The doctor even told me that even though he had seen the bullet injury, he can do nothing as his hands are tied."
In a video available on YouTube, Hardeep Singh Dibdiba also says that he was at Rajasthan border when the incident happened. He feels the family has been cheated because prior to the generation of the report, doctor accepted the reason of his grandson's death as head shot but later on the report didn't mention it.
While Uttar Pradesh Police deny all the allegations and believes otherwise. ADG Bareilly Avinash Chandra, while speaking to The Wire said, “We had made a panel of senior doctors for the autopsy. We have no reason to suppress or distort such a document because the matter is of Delhi Police.”
The family of Navreet also shared a video of Navreet's dead body that shows a hole near his chin. This they claim makes a strong point to prove he died due to bullet injury.
