NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede and team attacked by 60 drug peddlers in Mumbai during a raid

Narcotics Control Bureau Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede and his team were attacked by a mob of 6o in Mumbai during anti-drug search operations.

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede and his team in Mumbai were attacked by a mob of drug peddlers late on Sunday. 

The NCB officials have gone to arrest a drug peddler named 'Carry Mandis' and the police have arrested 'Carry Mandis' and three of his associates while a case has been registered under IPC Sec 353 against the accused.

NCB Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede and his team consisting of six members were physically assaulted by this mob in Goregaon area during a search operation, injuring two NCB officials. 

The team was tipped off from a drug-peddler, though, a mob of 50-60 people were already assembled at the venue to save the alleged drug peddler and investigating officials were assaulted by the same mob.

Wankhede said that the Goregaon Police had assisted his officer’s team to escape from the mob and they were successful in arresting some members of the mob as Wankhede and other officers were able to identify them.  

As per ANI, 3 people have been arrested in connection with the case.

Wankhede has been involved in investigating Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case and by far has questioned and investigated many of the big names from Bollywood. 

The latest had been the arrest of comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa and presently, they are under police custody.
