In a massive boost to connectivity between the states of Bihar and Punjab, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a new Amrit Bharat Express Train. Amrit Bharat Express Train will run to and from Amritsar Railway Station in Punjab.
For the unversed, Amrit Bharat Express Train is different than Vande Bharat. While Amrit Bharat Express is a semi-high-speed long-distance train with non-air-conditioned general and sleeper class coaches, Vande Bharat Express is a premium high-speed train with fully air-conditioned chair car and executive class coaches.
New Amrit Bharat Train from Punjab
As per reports, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced a new Amrit Bharat Express train between Saharsa (Bihar) and Amritsar (Punjab) during his ongoing visit to Bihar. The announcement came while addressing a public gathering as part of his inspection of various railway projects in the state.
The new train, launched under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, aims to enhance connectivity between Bihar’s Kosi and Seemanchal regions and North India, especially Punjab. The service will offer faster, more comfortable long-distance travel options for passengers, particularly migrant workers, students, and traders

During his announcement, Minister Ashiwni Vaishnaw stated that the train will begin regular operations soon, and the Railway Ministry will announce the full schedule, stoppages, and launch date shortly. The announcement comes months before the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections.
