The 4-lane highway between Phagwara and Hoshiarpur was officially inaugurated on May 23, 2025. The road was inaugurated by the former Union Minister Som Parkash, who also highlighted that the foundation stone of this project was laid by the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways - Nitin Gadkari. 

It is to be noted that the foundation stone was laid on January 10, 2024. 

Key Highlights of the Project - 

The total allocated length for the construction of the 4-lane highway is around 48.622 kilometers, and the project was allotted to Path India Limited. Notably, the project was completed within the timespan of two years. 

In addition to this, the highway has been designed for a speed of approximately 100 km per hour. According to the authorities reports, slip roads have been built at around 73.044 km. 

The authorities have mentioned that the total cost of the project was ₹1058 crore, and the cost of land acquisition was approximately ₹500 crore. 

Along with this, this project included two major bypasses, including Phagwara and Hoshiarpur. 

Phagwara Bypass - This bypass will start at Jamalpur village and will connect Mehli-Chandigarh-Phagwara. This will be as long as 6.8 km. 

Hoshiarpur Bypass - This bypass will start at Madulli Brahma village and will extend up to Una Road. The length of the project will be 9.5 km. 

The details of the project - 

This project will include one Major Bridge, 11 Minor Bridges, 20 Underpasses, 1 Railway Overbridge, 41 Minor Junctions, 28 Bus Lay-bys and 2 Truck Lay-bys.

The reports suggested that during the inauguration of this 4-lane project, NHAI Project Director Priyanka Meena, various NHAI officials, and several prominent local figures and leaders, including Anita Som Parkash, Avtar Mand, Arun Khosla, Ranjit Singh Khojewal, and many others from Phagwara and surrounding areas were present.
