Strict traffic rules in India have started to give results on roads as most of the two-wheelers now wear helmets. The helmet not only protects your head in case of an accident but it also protects your eyes and face from dust. And obviously, if you wear a helmet you will not have to pay any kind of fine. Right? Wrong!
If you feel safe wearing a helmet while driving a bike or scooter and think that you will not be fined, then this is not necessary. Despite wearing a helmet, a small mistake can get you a fine. This mistake is so common that most people make it again and again unknowingly.
Under the Motor Vehicle Act, along with wearing a helmet, it is also mandatory to tie its strap properly. Often people wear a helmet in a hurry or due to negligence. During that they do not wear the strap, due to which a fine can be deducted. Traffic police and CCTV cameras installed on the road can catch this mistake and those who break the rules can be fined.
If you have worn a helmet but have not tied the strap, then it will be considered a violation under Section 194D of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The main purpose of wearing a helmet is to protect the head and face, but if the strap is not worn then this protection remains incomplete.
