NIA files charge sheet against 6 accused of hoisting Khalistani flag in Moga on Independence Day

Three touted to be Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) cadres were involved in hoisting the Khalistani flag at the DC Office Complex on August 14, 2020, and also tore the National Flag on the premises.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a charge sheet in case of hoisting the Khalistani flag at the Deputy Commissioner Office Complex in Punjab's Moga on Independence Day eve last year. Six from the Cadres of Sikhs For Justice (SJF) are involved in the case. The accused involved - Inderjit Singh, Jaspal Singh and Akashdeep Singh were radicalised members of SFJ, had an illegal association and conspired with Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and Rana Singh of SJF.  

As per agency sources, the investigative body has charge-sheeted all accused, touted to be Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) cadres who had desecrated the tricolour on the eve of Independence Day and unfurled the Khalistani flag in its place. US-based chief of the secessionist outfit Gurpatwant Singh Pannu has also been named in the charge sheet. 

Khalistani flag was hoisted from the building of the Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex in Moga, Punjab, Indian National flag was torn. A video of the hateful incident was sent to Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and Rana Singh of SJF, and they shared the video on various social media platforms like YouTube, US Media International and SJF Channel to propagate the secessionist agenda of SFJ and in support of Referendum-2020 for making the separate State of Khalistan. They have also sent funds to Inderjit Singh and Jaspal Singh through money transfer services after they completed the job. 

Various electronic devices such as laptop, hard disc, mobile phones containing incriminating material were confiscated from the accused persons during the investigation.

The Punjab government has also announced a prize reward of Rs 50,000 for the two-persons who were caught on the CCTV camera committing the crime. 

The shocking incident commissioned after the banned US-based pro-Khalistani outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) had declared an offer of  $1,25,000 (Rs 93 lakh) to anyone for hoisting the Khalistan flag at the Red Fort on Independence Day.
