Night curfew imposed in Ahmedabad amid rising covid-19 cases

Ahmedabad in Gujarat recorded 220 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday which took the city’s tally to 46,022.

Authorities in Ahmedabad have decided to impose night curfew in the city after it observed an increase in the number of coronavirus cases. The curfew in the city will remain operative from 9 pm to 6 am until further order. 

The officials have said that they are arranging for a sufficient number of beds for covid patients as there has been a sudden spike in cases during the festival.  

Additional Chief Secretary, Rajiv Kumar Gupta, who has been appointed the officer on special duty for Covid-19 in Ahmedabad city said as many as 40 per cent beds in hospitals are still available for covid patients. 

Mr Gupta said out of 7,279 beds has been made available for covid patients in seven government and 76 designated private hospitals, 2,848 beds, that is 40 per cent, are still available. Among these include 2,347 beds in government hospitals and 501 beds in designated private hospitals.

Ahmedabad in Gujarat recorded 220 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday which took the city’s tally to 46,022. With five more fatalities, the death toll in the district increased to 1,949.

The number of patients discharged from hospitals reached 40,753 after 221 recoveries were reported. 

As per the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the containment zones have increased to 100 after 14 micro containment zones were added to the list.
