In a significant development offering much-needed relief to residents, the Jalandhar Improvement Trust, led by Chairperson Rajwinder Kaur Thiara and Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli, has taken decisive action to address long-standing grievances concerning extra enhancement and Non-Construction Charges (NCF). Nitin Kohli on Wednesday led a delegation of residents from Surya Enclave, Guru Gobind Singh Avenue, and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Avenue to Jalandhar Improvement Trust Chairperson Rajwinder Kaur Thiara.
The delegation raised pressing issues regarding unjust enhancement and non-construction (NCF) charges being levied even after No Dues Certificates (NDCs) had been issued and property registrations completed. The delegation included prominent residents Sh. Rajan Gupta, Sh. Gulshan Aggarwal, Sh. Pawan Setia, Sh. Manish Kumar, and Sh. Rajiv Dhamija, who presented specific cases where charges were still being reflected in Trust files. The residents urged immediate intervention to stop these unjust deductions.
Chairperson Rajwinder Thiara, acknowledging the concern, directed her staff to put an immediate hold on further payments and ordered a re-evaluation of all related files as per current Local Government policies. She assured that a final decision offering fair relief would be taken within the week.
Nitin Kohli, Central Halka Incharge, was lauded for his instrumental role in bringing the issue to the forefront. He strongly advocated on behalf of the public, pushing the matter through administrative channels and coordinating effectively with the Trust to secure this intervention.
Residents present at the meeting expressed their gratitude to both Rajwinder Thiara and Nitin Kohli for their timely intervention, which they believe has alleviated a significant financial burden on many families and ushered in a more transparent process.
