One of the world's richest men, Mukesh Ambani's wife, Nita Ambani, on June 9, 2025, announced a three-day 'India Weekend' in New York City. Nita Ambani, chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, made this announcement under the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). The 3-day event will take place at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and it will celebrate India's rich heritage.
In the announcement video, Nita Ambani says, "We are thrilled and excited to present the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre India Weekend at the Lincoln Center in New York from 12th-14th September. Bringing NMACC to New York is just about a weekend of performances, it's about spreading India's cultural voice to a global audience, and truly taking the very best of India to the world. We will spotlight the soul of India in all its glory. Our culture, our arts and crafts, our song and dance, our fashion, and of course our food. This is our first international presentation, and what better place than New York City?" I warmly invite each and every one of you to join us for this unforgettable experience. I can't wait to share India's rich tradition and heritage with all of you in New York City."
The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre Weekend will bring Indian artists and performers to a global stage. As a destination of the arts, New York City is a fitting location for this three-day celebration of Indian heritage
Mumbai’s Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, founded by Ambani in 2023, was inaugurated with a mega event that featured celebrities from around the world. "After seeing Lincoln Center and Sydney Opera House with my children, I used to wonder why India couldn’t have a space like that. I was keen to create a space that could showcase our cultural heritage, whether through dance, drama, or music—even folklore, arts, and crafts,” Nita Ambani was quoted saying.
What will be at the NYC event?
As per reports, the lineup of the festivities at the New York event is yet to be finalised, but the Grand Swagat will mark the beginning of the celebration at Lincoln Square’s Damrosch Park. There will also be a panel that discusses cricket, a Bollywood dance workshop led by choreographer Shiamak Davar, yoga every day with wellness expert Eddie Stern and much more. The event will also see Bollywood singers Shankar Mahadevan and Shreya Ghoshal, and classical musician Rishab Sharma.
Nita Ambani will also bring ‘The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation’ to Lincoln Center for live performances.
