'No Lehenga during Pheras, Rs 5K reward for info on drugs': Kapurthala Panchayat's guidelines

The panchayat of Kapurthala district in Punjab has recently issued various guidelines regarding the marriage procession that takes place inside the district. The guidelines issued by panchayat ranges from attire that brides will wear to timings and much more. They have also announced that strict fine will be imposed on those who fail to follow these guidelines.

Reportedly on Friday, The Bhadhas Panchayat of Kapurthala unanimously came up with certain rules and regulations regarding the wedding. It decided that brides will not be allowed to wear lehenga during the lavaan-phera in the Gurudwara. Also, they stated that the pheras must take place before 12 noon. If anyone’s marriage procession will get delayed by 12 noon then they will have to pay fine of Rs. 11,000. Apart from this, the panchayat said that when bride goes back to her home for blessing only the in-laws and husband can come along with her. They said that if any other person apart from family comes along with the bride then fine of Rs. 11,000 will also be imposed on them.

Adding to this, the panchayat also announced certain rules for people who come to celebrate marriage and give blessings to the married couple in exchange of money. They said that these eunuchs, pimps and jugglers will only be given the amount specified and nothing more than that. Also, they will have to show documents of recognition from the government to enter the village. The panchayat also stated that only one group will be allowed to take money.

Apart from this, the Panchayat also issued guidelines regarding drugs menace in the district. They stated that Rs. 5,000 will be given to those give information about drugs. Panchayat has imposed a complete ban on selling all kinds of drugs like tobacco, bidi-cigarettes, khaini etc in the village. If someone is caught with drugs, he/ she will be fined Rs 5,000.

Panchayat has also stated that no one will be allowed to carry extra lager back home. If someone is caught doing that they will have to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000. Along with this, the punishment of cleaning shoes will be given for two months.
