Famous Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi did not get any relief from Punjab and Haryana High Court. He had filed a petition against the sentence of 2 years in the pigeon pelting case. During his hearing, the court asked how long Daler was in jail? On this, Mehndi's lawyer said that it is only a short time. After this, the High Court issued a notice to the Punjab Government and summoned a reply. The next hearing of the case will be on September 15.

At present, Daler is lodged in the Patiala Central Jail for the last 6 days. Daler Mehndi has been kept in the same barrack where former PPCC Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu has been lodged.

Shamsher Mehndi, Daler Mehndi's older brother, was accused of sending people abroad illegally on September 19, 2003, and an FIR was subsequently filed in the case.

Daler Mehndi's name also came up in this case during the investigation. A lawsuit was filed against him in 2003, and 15 years later, in 2018, the lower court sentenced him to two years in prison. Against this, Daler appealed to the Patiala Sessions Court. 5 days ago the Sessions Court of Patiala upheld the trial court's decision after which Daler was arrested and sent to Patiala jail to serve the sentence.
