The Private College Non teaching Employees Union, Punjab( PCNTEU) at its state body meeting held  at GGN Khalsa College, here, today, rued the step motherly treatment being meted out to the non teaching staff of private colleges.

Mandeep singh Bedi ( Khalsa College, Amritsar) and Vivek Markanda( BLM Girls College, Nawanshahr), state president and secretary respectively of the PCNTEU, while addressing the meeting accused the government of adopting step motherly stance  towards non teaching employees of private colleges.

Divulging details, they said that several posts of non teaching employees were lying vacant in the privately managed government colleges but the state government had not been filling the posts. The revised house rent and medical allowance from January 2006 had not been sanctioned to  non teaching staff working in aided colleges while it had already been given to the teaching staff. Similarly, the implementation of notifications regarding benefit of revision of pay scales and proficiency step up after 4-9-14 years of service from December 2011 had also been lying pending for the non teaching staff.

The PCNETU, Punjab also criticised the state government for pushing the privately managed aided colleges towards grave financial crisis. The state government had imposed a cut on grant in aid of 20 per cent. Instead of 95 percent, now, the aided colleges had been receiving 75 percent grant in aid. Besides, the amount of scholarships was  not being paid by the government.

The issues like highhandedness of principals for forcing non-teaching employees to take earned leaves in place of casual leaves , delay in granting leave encashment and confirmation of services after four years etc. were  also discussed at the meeting. The PCNETU took serious note of these grievances and warned the concerned principals and managements to solve the issues immediately otherwise the PCNETU would launch a stir.
