The Norwegian women’s handball team was fined with 1,500 euros last week for wearing “improper clothing” while participating in the European Beach Handball Championship.

Pink in a ranting tweet wrote about how unfair it was for women to be wearing something that they weren’t comfortable in to play a sport they loved.

“I’m very proud of the Norwegian female beach handball team for protesting sexist rules about their uniform,” she wrote in her tweet. “Good on ya ladies, I’ll be happy to pay your fines for you.

Keep it up” she added. Last week The Norwegian Handball Federation announced that they were prepared to pay the fines by the ladies. The team did express their gratitude towards the young singer through their Instagram.

They posted a picture of themselves, standing in their “improper clothing” and wrote the caption of the post as “Wow! Thank you so much for the  support.”

The authorities who fined the women said that the team was fined for their choice of kit during the match in Spain as they wore shorts and not bikinis. The country’s minister later said it was “completely ridiculous.”

A lot of people came out in support of the women and the ridiculous rules. “The sexualization of women athletes must stop,” wrote Billie Jean King, former tennis champion.

The team had worn bicycle shorts which were equally fitting but less revealing that they usually trained in.
