'Not even a house to stay': Khalsa Aid Founder reveals harsh reality of Indian students in UK

Khalsa Aid’s founder Ravi Singh Khalsa recently through his Instagram made big revelations about difficulties faced by Indian students going on a student visa to the UK. This year the UK may have issued the highest number of student visas but the ever-increasing inflation has made it difficult for them to make a living in the country. Students living in the UK are not able to find even 1BHKs to stay in, other than that they have been borrowing money to fulfill their everyday expenses.

Ravi Singh Khalsa who recently visited the UK revealed harsh reality of Indian students living there. He through his Instagram handle shared their plight. He stated that Khalsa Aid team met 2 students from Punjab roaming in UK in search of home as they did not have any place to live. The students then requested them if the team can arrange a stay for them. Furthermore, the founder also added that some students who have come to the UK by borrowing money, now are struggling to meet the daily expenses. He added that the students can’t borrow money as they are already in heavy debt and returning to India is also not an option.

Inflation in Britain to reached record level in 2022. In the last year, Consumer Price Index (CPIH), including house rent, increased by 8.8 percent. As per the November 2022 data, the inflation rate reached 9.3 per cent. As per the data of British High Commission, India has overtaken China as the largest issuer of sponsored study visas in the UK. Indians received the highest number of 1.27 lakh student visas for the year ending September 2022.
