Elon Musk has hit the 100 million follower milestone on Twitter, becoming the platform's sixth user to do so.

As Elon Musk celebrates his 51st birthday, his Twitter account has now surpassed 100 million followers, making him one of only six people in the world to achieve this feat on Twitter. 

Musk, widely regarded as the world's most prominent tech entrepreneur and investor, joined the site in 2009 and currently ranks sixth among the most-followed persons, alongside former US President Barack Obama, musician Justin Bieber, and others. 

On the microblogging site, Obama has 132.1 million followers, Bieber has 114.1 million, Katy Perry has 108.8 million, Rihanna has 106.9 million, and Cristiano Ronaldo has 101.3 million.

Meanwhile, Musk, who was born on June 28, 1971, celebrated his 51st birthday on Tuesday. He is frequently in the news for updates on his businesses, including SpaceX, Neuralink, and The Boring Company. He is also known for his opinions on politics, pop culture, and global affairs. 

Musk, who signed a $44 billion deal, has been silent on the social media platform since June 21. 

Musk is the world's richest individual, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with an estimated value of roughly $203 billion as of June 2022. 

Musk launched SpaceX in 2002, where he currently serves as CEO and Chief Engineer. He was an early investor in electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors, Inc. in 2004. (now Tesla, Inc.). He rose through the ranks to become its chairman and product architect, eventually becoming CEO in 2008.

In 2006, Musk helped establish SolarCity, a solar energy firm that was eventually acquired by Tesla and renamed Tesla Energy. 

In 2015, he co-founded OpenAI, a non-profit research organization dedicated to the advancement of friendly artificial intelligence. He co-founded Neuralink, a neurotechnology firm aiming to develop brain-computer interfaces, and The Boring Company, a tunnel construction firm, in 2016.
